N Y C b y N i g h t

Last Saturday, August 12, Michaela and went to NYC in the evening in order to finally have the chance to go out there and experience the real NYC nightlife! I think we were really able to accomplish our mission, as it was a very funny and very long night full of dancing and singing and even eating...

Saturday Night...

At about 8 o'clock, we arrived at NY Penn Station and went straight to the NBC Tower at Rockefeller Center to go up to the "Top of the Rock". Actually we wanted to see the sundown and take pictures in the most beautiful light from there, but unfortunately we missed it (we didn't really calculate that it took us about an hour to walk there). Nevertheless, we enjoyed a great view over NYC again, this time by night (we were on the Empire State Building during the day). It is just amazing if you're standing there and looking down on all the huge buildings, the lights, the cars, the people.... It felt really good! Just as if you were in the middle of something big.... the city's not wrongly called "the city that never sleeps"....there is just so much energy to feel and to see!
And of course the view over the city by night offers countless perfect motives for pictures...
But after about 40 minutes it just got too cold (quite a breeze up there!) and so we left and went to the big fountain in front of the building where we met my exboyfriend Schoko, with who we would go out and stay afterwards.

In Da Club...

This meeting was quite funny as we hadn't seen each other for a long time anyway (about 9 months?) and then meet again in the US and only speak English! But honestly, I had imagined it to be even odder... : P In fact we really had a lot of fun: we strolled through the city and went to a Club proposed by Schoko (he hadn't been there either but it said that girls wouldn't have to pay!! :-) ) - called "Club T". There, we also met Diego from Brazil, a friend of his and after waiting for about half an hour, until the bouncer came to check IDs and we were waiting with excitement what would happen! In the internet it said that girls could enter at 19 and guys at 21, but the bouncer said he wouldn't care and it was 21 for eveyone. The funny thing was, that when he read Michaela's ID, which says 07.10.1985 he thought it to be the American system (month/day/year) and so suddenly she was 21 in the US!! ...unfortunately this wouldn't work with my birth date, but the nice Mr. Bouncer said he was gonna make "an exception" for me....how kind! Lol....of course, this is just the way it is in NYC! Obviously, it's not as strict as I had thought... It's just important that there's as much "ado about nothing" as possible ; )
So, finally we got into the Club (which was extremely air-conditioned, almost freezing, how stupid!) and even enjoyed an "open bar" from 10 to 11, which means drinks for free - perfect! So we drank enough to have energy for dancing ; ) and went on the dance floor where we spent the next hours - I JUST LOVED IT!!!!! I hadn't been dancing in the whole summer, so I really needed it again. At the beginning, the music was just a bit boring (slow unknown R&B) but then it got much better and we enjoyed everything.
Speaking of that - the funniest thing I had ever seen was the "bathroom guy" or whatever to call him...if you go to the bathroom (it's unisex!) you are being served by him with everything you need - he puts soap onto your hands, hands you a towel after washing them, asks you if you need anything else... there is even a bowl with different kinds of snacks and you can get cigarettes there, use a hair brush, a lot of perfumes, etc etc... so funny!!
Well, after our dancing session, we went outside to get some fresh air and ended up sitting in front of the club for some time, being quite exhausted (and somebody also a little drunk? ...hmm...I don't know) and taking pics of people passing by. At about 4 in the morning, we went into a diner and had "Western omelettes" which were sooooo yummy!!!!!!
Then we wanted to walk to Grand Central Station to take the first train to Schoko's house in Tuckahoe at about 5.30, but as it was so cold by that time, we decided to take a Cab and so had another unforgettable attraction in NYC. And there is still quite a lot of traffic at that time!
Arrived at the station, we still had to wait for some time and since Michi and I were so tired already, we just lay down with the other people (lots of them!) who were sleeping on the floor like homeless people... lol... you can see us in of the pics!
When we finally got to Tuckahoe, where Schoko is living in a really nice beach hosue-like house, we went to bed at about 7 and slept about 4 hours.

Sunday Morning...

We had a late breakfast at Dunkin Donut's and Schoko kindly drove us down to Manhattan. From Battery Park, we took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, which was great and then we also had a look at the sad sight of Ground Zero. After our dinner at Mc Donald's (we already have kind of a "Stamm" Mci there...lol..it's just so cheap!) we took the train back home to MIddletown.

PICS TO COME SOON!
